Welcome to Al-Faitouri Center for Heritage and History Research, dear visitors of University of Geneina website. At the present time, people have been busy with materiality without relying on a spiritual and moral reference, but rather they have moved away completely from the customs and traditions and the inheritance of high values, and lofty ideals, which constitute the philosophy of society’s life. Thus, many communities have been affected with what is known as “value dislocation” and its problems. This led to the need for the emergence of a new way of thinking to mobilize that entity that collapsed as a result of neglect. Thus, we see today that the development attempts are based on cultural and social dimensions to move the communities to a better reality. Building of strong culture and continuous development derived from the past and contemporary thought. The consolidation of ties between nations and their present day by paying attention to popular culture and protecting it from loss and neglect. Popular culture has relation with the past, the present and the future. It is our heritage and civilization that we are proud of, and since history reflects its past and present, its future also is reflected. It is the best way to know experiences and to avoid mistakes in the present and to infer what a nation has reached in terms of achievement and documentation of historical facts.
For all those reasons Al-Faitouri Center for Heritage and History Research has been established to protect the national heritage, promote dialogue between cultures and imitate the universal poet, the son of the region, Muhammad Miftah Al-Faitouri.

Vision:
A heritage and historical destination for those interested and heritage lovers.
Mission:
- To provide systematic and organized knowledge and enable those interested to delve into the fields of heritage and history in a serious and organized manner
- To complete the university mission for community services.
- To provide the community with capable and qualified cadres and researchers for heritage and history services.
Goals:
1- To collect, record and document the heritage and history of Dar Masalit, and the heritage and history of Darfur in particular and Sudan in general.
2- To establish necessary rules and regulations for maintaining documents and facilitating access to them by those interested.
3- To qualify and train new generation from researchers and those interested in the fields of heritage and history.
4- Attention should be paid to oral sources and place them in the ranks of documentary sources, manuscripts and antiquities
5- Cooperation with people, institutes and bodies at the local, regional and international levels concerned with heritage and history
6- To issue specialized books and periodicals to disseminate systematic knowledge of the history of the region and popular culture. To deepen understanding of the popular heritage, evaluating it, and linking it to other fields of knowledge.
7- To organizing courses, discussion forums, general lectures, seminars and academic conferences
8- To develop local languages.
9- To introduce the history of the region and the lofty values offered by popular culture into the curricula of modern education.
10- To award degrees and diplomas, higher diplomas, masters in heritage and history studies.
11- Attention should be paid to the writings of the universal poet, the son of the region, Muhammad Miftah Al-Faitouri.

1- Events Management: It facilitates and manages the Al-Faitouri Exhibition, which is a permanent exhibition of heritage. The administration is also concerned with organizing and participating in all activities in the center.
2- The Center’s library: a library specialized in Sudanese heritage and history books
3- Alfaitouri Journal of Heritage and History: A refereed academic journal concerned with heritage and history.
